The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Candle of the Day: Old Navy Ruby Red Guava

by Amy on May 7th, 2007

I was surprised to see Old Navy had candles and hand lotion near the checkout recently.  I could smell this candle from five feet away or more (unlit)!   Naturally when I had a 20% off coupon last week I had to take it home.  For $10, this is an elegantly packaged product.    It’s a minimalist white in a clear glass jar with tiny white geometric (think somewhere between basketweave and greek key) design.  Definitely looks much more sophisticated than most of my finds at Old Navy! :)

After cleaning my kitchen, I lit it and within about an hour the fragrance was so strong I had to blow it out!   Since then I’ve been burning it in the living room,  and it burns very cleanly from what I can see.  And the fragrance is so strong and delicious, it made me thirsty!  The sweet and juicy tropical guava is offset by a true, tart, ruby red grapefruit.  It also seems like the wax is high quality and the candle will last a long time.

The Old Navy candles are very nice and I hope Old Navy continues to offer them.

I wish they made them larger because they don’t last long. I burned mine one a day for about an hour and after a week it’s almost gone.

They smell great though and the little tins that they come in will match most decor.

I think metal tin candles generally burn faster than glass. Do they still carry the glass one like I posted about? Those are totally money.
