Parfumerie Generale: Bois Blond
I chose this scent a few weeks ago for a black tie event, and it was perhaps not the best idea. Sharp, green and spicy, almost “dill pickle” note at the very first. It settles down into what I would definitely consider straw or hay. It’s erudite, elitist, very uncommon but more like rural landed gentry rather than sophisticated city riches. There’s a very faint hint of a quite sexy and almost raunchy musk note at the end. This is evocative to be sure but what it evokes is not completely pleasant on me. It’s in a handsome bottle and $105 for 50 ml. From Luckyscent:
the scoop
Bois Blond, inspired by an evening in August, the time of harvests, is a Limited Edition scent created by Parfumerie Generale to delight the fans of woody fragrances. The cedar note that lies in the heart of the composition is fantastically sumptuous; it smells balsamic and slightly peppery. The beautiful hay note adds a charmingly bucolic quality to the scent. Although undoubtedly possessing a very appealing pastoral side, Bois Blond is at the same time supremely elegant. If it were an item of couture clothing, it would be one from an exquisite “posh country collection”. That refined, sophisticated feel of Bois Blond is achieved by the presence of the striking and dry note of galbanum— A subtly-smoky, just a tiny bit sweet blond tobacco adds a sensual, husky undertone to the blend; the effect is further enhanced in the drydown by the lush, warm and enveloping accord of amber and musk. Impeccably tailored and sensual, Bois Blond is one hot number. Only limited amount of bottles is available; hurry up before it is gone for good.
