Perfume of the Day: Diptyque Philosykos
Released in 1996 this is a must-try for those who love fig scents. I don’t know what it is about the fig but it does make a lovely perfumery note. It is initially quite heady - the sweetness of the fig with floral/green notes in the background, but it calms down to a lovely herbal/woody base with the fig leaves still in focus. I do get the coconut, but not the pepper notes that some reviewers mention. The lasting power is impressive for such a simple perfume. To my nose it is slightly “dated” just because it was so popular a few years ago, but I suppose that just proves how scents can be tied to memories.
NowSmellThis certainly loves it, Sakecat is a bit more indifferent. You can try a sample at The Perfumed Court, or just spring for the entire bottle, $85 at Beautyhabit.

I’d say that’s an accurate assessment. I have to be in the mood for it. Definitely not an everyday scent for me.

Yeah, I agree. I don’t find major faults in it, but it’s just not my style for whatever reason.
