Perfume of the day: Eau Illuminee by Parfums DelRae
Again, I guess, I judged a book by its cover (or in this case, a perfume by its name) and was caught totally off guard. I thought it would be girly, ephemeral, and fade quickly. Instead, this scent is quite unisex and substantial. The topnotes are a citrus/herbal blend (with lavender in the background). The basenotes take a looong time to develop, and eventually it becomes very rich, dark. It’s $125 for 50ml, but this relatively high price is made more palatable by the fact that it’s quite strong and should only take a spritz or two for optimum sillage!
The description from Luckyscent:
Inspired by San Francisco and meant to reflect its light and physicality, Eau Illuminee to us is one of the best unisex scents released in the recent years. The clear-cut proportions of the scent are striking and classic. It is fascinating to experience the development of this fragrance on the skin, the development which progresses from very cool citrusy and herbal beginning to the warmer heart of lavender infused with a little bit of vanilla, and finally to the warmest stage, the delicately sweet and unexpectedly deep, dark and resinous base of tonka bean and orris. This warming-by-degrees development creates the impression of the scent melding with the skin; the fragrance envelopes the wearer like the lightest aura of easy elegance and stylish urbanity. Refreshing and brisk, this modern classic is a must have for warm weather and casually elegant wear all year round for men and women alike.
Eau Illuminee notes
Bergamot, basil, French lavender, wild aromatic herbs, vanilla, tonka bean, and orris.
