Perfume of the Day: Le Labo Aldehyde 44
Fizz, Fizz! This fragrance positively bubbles - like a ginger ale made from flowers and citrus. There is a smoky hint of jasmine, as well, and then it rolls into ambrette/vanillic waves. I’m enchanted. However - the price is truly, truly, truly outrageous - $230 for 1.7 oz. Launched in 2007, Le Labo only sells this at Barney’s in Dallas. I do love the modern, lab-sample packaging. Best be making friends with those relatives in Texas….

[…] The store is full of raw materials that a professional perfume blender will concoct into a unique scent after you have picked them out with the guidance of an expert. The raw materials are all rare and precious-Egyptian rose, African vetiver-and after you have made the selection, the artist, who is also a scientist, fills the test tubes, mixes them in the right amounts, pours the result into a clinical vial, and appends a label with your name on it. And there you have it: your very own perfume, tailored to you. […]
