The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Perfume of the Day: Olivier Durbano Amethyste

by Amy on May 16th, 2008

Olivier Durbano Amethyste

A few months ago I tried Bulgari’s Omnia Amethyste…how interesting that another jeweler turned perfumer has released an amethyst inspired fragrance.  I’m not sure if it’s my skin chemistry, but this perfume was all pepper, smoke, and a hint of woods…it really failed to release any kind of complexity on my skin.  The notes include:  bergamot, pepper, grape, raspberry, incense, palisander wood, jasmine, orris, vegetable amber, sandalwood, musk, and vanilla.   For once, a fruity floral utterly confounds me.  It’s a very subtle blend, with none of the usual heady sweetness I prefer in oriental compositions such as this.  Like most jewelry it’s also not cheap - $115 for 100 ml at Luckyscent.

Now Smell This has a more wordy but essentially similar take on this perfume.  I’m not even sure I’ll screw up the enthusiasm to review the other scents in the line.
