The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Perfume of the Day: Profumum Thundra

by Amy on February 3rd, 2008

I think this perfume is slightly misnamed: it evokes lightning for me so much more than thunder. It was a damp Friday and still chilly today, so although it’s winter I think it was appropriate. The earthy notes immediately come forth, with wood/bark notes in the background and then the wild mint. The patchouli adds to the earthiness, but the sum of these notes - bark, earth, patchouli - almost smells burned on me. The immediate, and slightly unpleasant phrase that came to mind was “scorched earth”. The serenity for me is like that of the day after an intense battle. It’s quiet merely because there is no life. Perhaps it’s just stress or my mood but this perfume made me very uncomfortable. There are quite a range of reviews that you can read here and decide if you want to spring for the sample or a full bottle.

From Luckyscent:

A solitary walk through a cool, damp forest, just after the rain. You can smell the rich earth as it drinks in the water, the bark on the trees, the carpet of fallen leaves and wild mint crushed under your feet. An unexpectedly cool and introspective rendition of patchouli, as peaceful and inspiring as the air after a thunderstorm has broken a heat wave. The warm earthiness of the patchouli is perfectly juxtaposed with the equally grounded, but chilly mint to create a unique and surprisingly relaxing fragrance. Thoughtful and serene.

Thundra notes
leaves, mint, patchouli, white musk
