Perfume of the Day: Ralph Lauren Notorious
I’m a big fan of film noir and the work of Hitchcock in particular. So of course I was bound to be disappointed by this scent. It doesn’t feel retro, at all. I didn’t have a good feeling about it even from reading the notes: black currant, pink peppercorn, bergamot, chocolate cosmos, white frost peonies, carnation, patchouli musk, vanilla, iris. Pink peppercorn is just way overused these days. I’m also not a fan of carnations. So basically it’s your generic “floriental” with some fruit notes. Much more suited to Victoria’s Secret than Ralph Lauren. It really did not agree with my skin chemistry. I didn’t like the initial sniff, and it didn’t really improve over time.
