The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Perfume of the Day: Tihota by Indult

by Amy on February 13th, 2008

tihota.jpgIf you read all the hype below, you might be lead to start hyperventilating just before you try Tihota.   Unfortunately, I feel this scent is highly overrated.  It’s lovely, but it’s not some kind of rapture,  or temple, or symphony to vanilla.    It reminds one very much of Comptor Sud Pacifique scents.   It’s quiet and relatively stable during the life of the scent on the skin.  The drydown is comforting, and given the icky weather today I’ll take as much comfort as I can get. It’s also a whopping $250 for 50ml, and there were only 999 bottles of the scent made.  Try a sample, but I’m sure not buying a full bottle.

From Luckyscent:

the scoop
Rapa Nui for sugar, Tihota is, quite simply, The One. The One that will call to you every moment you’re not smelling it, The One that you’ve only had hints of in other vanilla perfumes, The One that lasts and lasts, The One that has perfectly captured the essence of the pure nature of fresh vanilla beans and has harnessed it beyond your wildest dreams. It inspires obsessive devotion with its fragrance of smooth, vanilla bean pods dipped in honeyed water and left to steep. The result is the pure magic, an unbridled vanilla, sweet, raw and achingly desirable. Of course, Tihota isn’t the first perfume to focus on the dark sweetness of vanilla… perfumery is filled with vanillas, but this smells like the dream of a master perfumer who was obsessed with vanilla and was finally given free rein to worship the note with no apologies. It is, without a sliver of a doubt, the finest pure vanilla we’ve ever had the honor of carrying, and it’s so beautiful it pains us to put the bottle down.

Tihota notes
vanilla bean, musks

This is the most beautiful vanilla i have ever smelled in my life. I have spent hundreds and hundreds and never have I encountered a vanilla this exquisite! There are quite a few perfume lovers who would completely disagree with you here. There has never been a fragrance like this one ever.

It’s pure vanilla pod steeped in honey and enrobed in a veil of gorgeous musk. It is worth every penny. I can’t get enough of this scent and neither can anyone else who has tried this delectable beauty.

Wow, Tara! I’m glad you like it so much. I gave my sample away or I’d smell it again. If you like this definitely try the Imperial Opoponax, or maybe Un Bois Vanille. That’s my go-to vanilla.
