The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Perfumes for Relaxing - Scensoir em

by Amy on August 15th, 2007

imag006.JPGAs I wrote about earlier, I’m on a desperate quest to find out if perfume or other scented product can really improve my sense of relaxation, especially when it comes to sleepytime. Late last week I was testing out Ce by Scensoir, and the latest few evenings I tested Em. Em is very ‘green’ and herbal, described thusly:

“Delicate yet complex” describes this Herbaceous-Floral, which is defined by its heart
of sweet marjoram and clary sage. A family of citrus top notes enhances the
fragrance’s intensity, and the dry-down is punctuated by notes of ginger, black pepper
and patchouli.

Top notes include bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin, petitgrain & cedarleaf; middle notes
include marjoram, clary sage, juniperberry & neroli; and bottom notes include ginger,
black pepper, cedarwood & patchouli.

Em was neither cool, nor warm (as I experienced with Ce, which is quite cozy and warm). On my skin, however, it was super green, with the juniperberry and clary sage notes predominating. Although it’s described as a herbaceous floral, I don’t see many floral notes. It also lacked the notes that I associate (and perhaps this is the rub) with relaxation - lavender and chamomile. I liked this fragrance quite a lot, however…it’s more suited for meditation or other ‘clarity’ enhancements than sleeping. So my search continues, but my meditation practice is perhaps better off.

You can try Scensoir Em for yourself here, and because I’ve got the hookup, you can get free shipping using the code BDAILY-U (for Canadian readers; BDAILY-C will get you a shipping discount).
