Scent of the Day: Sushi Imperiale by Bois 1920
I have been steadily working my way through the Bois 1920 scents, and this was the hardest so far. Sushi Imperiale is definitely meant to be out of the mainstream…perhaps because of the name I smelled sharp ginger on the outset (was probably the pepper/cinnamon)…but time reveals a spicy heart and a warm vanilla/wood base. I really like the middle of this scent the best, but it still just felt a bit…unbalanced? Kind of like a grownup that is very childlike, it’s uncanny and disarming, but not unpleasant once you let your guard down again.
Sushi Imperiale is a comforting scent, a warm scent, and it more than reminds us of being a little kid during the holidays and smelling new and unusual things liked mulled cider and mince pie. It opens with a mere memory of citrus before its true spicy nature arrives with the gorgeous spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper. Tie it up with a dash of Madagascar vanilla and a wisp of woods and you’ve pretty much walked into a grown-up gourmand fragrance that has people grinning and tapping you on the shoulder everywhere you go. Sushi Imperiale reels ‘em in not with modern notions of a slick mankiller or ladykiller, but with ageless joy in the spices and flavors that have brought smiles to people throughout time.
Sushi Imperiale notes
