Scrub a Dub! part 3

by Amy on May 13th, 2007

sheenappeal16oz.jpgAnother one of my all-time favorite scrubs is from Skindecent.  I put off ordering from this company for a long time, even though I read nothing but glowing reviews of the products, because I thought ordering from Canada meant a really long wait time.  Amazingly, the turn around time is comparable to most sites I’ve ordered from in the US - about a week normally, but two or three weeks if there’s a big sale or just happens to be a busy time.  Of course, if there’s a big sale, I’m likely to be very patient.  There is also a huge list of scents that make it hard to pare down to a reasonable order.   Red Currant, Raspberry Lemonade, Purple Cotton Candy, and so on - I haven’t yet gotten a scent from SDE that wasn’t strong, true, and very enjoyable.  I tend to gravitate towards fruit or citrus scents in my scrubs, and away from the rich gourmand scents.  One of my recent buys is a sheen appeal in Feng Shui Wood - it smells a lot like Korres’ Cedarwood shower gel, and would be great for introducing a guy to the smooth life of scrubbing.

In any case, Skindecent makes several scrubs,  so I tried them all.

Sheen Appeal -

The formula kind of reminds me of the Primal Elements bath scrub - kind of whipped, mousse-like, and moisturizing. Just like it says! I’m glad I got the bigger size.  My favorite of the bunch, and I’ll continue to order indefinitely.
Manicure in a Minute

It is quite similar in texture to the “One Minute Manicure” products in salons.  Almost crumbly, and the smaller size jar has lasted me for months with weekly use.  Nowadays I use my MadCitySue whipped shea scrub as a manicure/cuticle scrub, but this is perfect for really taming ragged cuticles and moisturizing chapped hands.

Body Buffer

I like the whipped texture, which doesn’t leave an oily feel.  It actually foams up when you use it. Seems like it will be nice and moisturizing, but not as much as the sheen appeal!  Better to use like a scrubbing shower gel.

Body Polisher -

This seems like what most scrubs try to be - not too oily, not too dry.   Comes in a tube or a large jar.  The tube is more convenient (and slightly cheaper) but it was hard to get the last few bits of scrub to squeeze out.  If you’re not sure which scrub to go with, I’d choose this because it’s most likely what you’re familiar with.

Bermuda Beach Smoother-

This is more of a sandy texture, and the least ‘dry’ scrub (high ratio of oil to sugar).
