The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Scrub a Dub! part 4

by Amy on May 14th, 2007

scrub.jpgOrigins seems to wax and wane in popularity.  I don’t hear much about them right now, it seems.  But their Ginger line of products (Ginger Souffle cream, Ginger Essence perfume, etc) includes a scrub that I love.  The Ginger Body Smoother (or as it appears to be called now, Incredible,  Spreadable Scrub) is emulsified, meaning the salt/sugar and oil don’t separate.  I appreciate this and think that some customers might be turned off by having to dig through oil to stir up the sugar at the bottom,  so this is a great option.   The scent, though, is really what gets me.  Ginger is a warm, stimulating scent,  and in this line it’s blended with citrus and effervescent notes.  The original Ginger Scrub (a salt scrub in a soybean oil base) is a bit scrubbier than the spreadable scrub, and definitely shouldn’t be used after shaving.

Considering how fickle I am about scent, the fact that I’ve loved the Ginger products for years really says something.   The only thing that keeps me from constantly using this is the price - nothing from Origins is what I’d call affordable.  But as a treat or luxury, it’s perfect.
