Scrub a Dub! Part 5 - Isle of Eden Scrubs

To cap off this Top 5 - Scrubs series, one of the most talked about scrubs on the internets these days: Isle of Eden. Love the uber-customized, exclusive scents, or hate the months-long turn-around time, Isle of Eden scrubs have sparked more interest in scrubs since Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish. Some of Alexa’s most popular, unique scents have equally unique names: 7 Strawberry Lane, Can’t Sleep Clowns Will Eat Me, and State Fair Dairy Princess.

The textures are also quite unique - there are different types (turbinado, white, brown, ocean salt) of scrubbies, and the whipping process means there is no stirring to mix oils and sugar. Instead, many of the products are layered or ’split’, meaning two complimentary scents are side by side. If you’re one of those people who goes to a restaurant and asks for sauce on the side, and no mayo, and sub onion rings for french fries - GO TO ISLE OF EDEN RIGHT NOW. You can customize to your picky little heart’s content.

One of the products I tried, Monoi Coco Vanille, is such a layered product. It has a layer of tiare (jasmine-like) scrub over a layer of coconut scrub. the floral scent definitely predominates, and if one didn’t know that monoi oil is almost always scented with tiare flower, and expects a foody coconut/vanilla, this product could be disappointing. Still, it is fun to use - almost like a scrubby pudding, that scoops out of the jar easily and rinses away very clean. It also doesn’t make the tub nearly as slippery as oily scrubs - so if you have toddlers or clumsy housemates, this is ideal.

Perhaps it’s a good thing that these scrubs are not the cheapest out there, or else the turn around times would be even longer. Supply and demand, you know…
