The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Summer Lovin’ from Sharon Bolton Scents

by Amy on May 19th, 2007

oils.jpgI was excited to test drive three perfume oils from Sharon Bolton Scents the past ten days or so - after reading Shannon’s glowing review of her LUV candle, I had to find out more.

If you’ve never heard of Sharon Bolton, she offers three modern tropical scents:

Luv - An intoxicating, ultimately feminine scent of rare pink gardenia, lush Hawaiian white flowers, and a hint of creamy vanilla with a delicate whisper of white musk. What a way to fall in LUV!

Soul - Sweet tropical notes that will evoke a memory for your soul. Juicy papaya, luscious pineapple, and creamy coconut with undertones of clean musk. It’s enough to sweep you away to the islands.

Truth - A refreshing, clean citrus… think tangy lemon-lime… softened by an exotic floral and an airy, sheer musk… fresh like a warm sea breeze!

I thought for sure that my favorite would be Soul, because I love tropical, fruity scents.   My trials of this scent didn’t disappoint - it smells like a pina colada, but there’s almost a ’shaft of light’ shot straight through the composition, where the clean musk keeps the sweet and fruit notes from cloying territory.  I kept getting whiffs of it during the day and mostly the coconut and musk notes remained.

But surprisingly, my favorite was Truth!  The citrus notes really added a sparkle to the musk,  and it was so refreshing, I felt immediately inspired to get outside and enjoy some of the lovely clear weather we’re having here.  The ‘truth’ is this fragrance is very well constructed, and it is modern and clean, but also feminine and uplifting.
