The BEST Vanilla scents!
As part of this week’s contest, I asked for readers to submit their questions about perfume and fragrance. Already, I’ve gotten some great ones, so it’s time to reach into the question bag and shed some light on the subject.
I love vanilla scents! Can you please suggest other brands that carry this scent. I only know VS and Bath and Body Works. Thanks!
Oh, man! Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body works are just the tip of the iceberg. Vanilla is a very popular scent, and it’s easy for most people to wear. Some vanilla perfumes do smell a little too much like vanilla extract for me, but there are some great finds in all price ranges.
An oldie, but goodie (and cheapie!) is Avon. Their core line of vanilla bath and body products, Naturals, has many vanilla products that are well formulated and totally scrumptious to use. I love the shower gel for the built-in hook!
I also love St. Ives vanilla lotion, especially when using it as a base to help other perfumes last longer.
My all time favorite vanilla perfume is Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille. It’s a blend of vanilla and sandalwood with other soft oriental notes like benzoin. You owe it to yourself to try this, although it’s not easy to get (Luckyscent has it).
As I spoke of earlier this week, organic perfumes are popular and LaVanila is leading the pack. Teri loves their coconut vanilla, I choose the Vanilla Grapefruit, and there is also a vanilla floral and a straight up vanilla.
Several other brands specialize in vanilla scents. I’m thinking of Laurence Dumont (discontinued at Sephora?) and Comptoir Sud Pacifique. the Dumonts are quite affordable but don’t always last a long time. CSP’s come in cool aluminum bottles and will whisk you away to tropical islands in no time. A great one to start with is Vanille Abricot, but this can smell a bit like cotton candy if you are not careful and apply too much.
