The Scented Life Book Club - Jitterbug Perfume
There are several books that have scent or perfume as one of their main themes. When I tell people that I am a perfumer, a very common exclamation is “oh! I loved Jitterbug Perfume!” I’m not sure if it is the latent Tom Robbins - Richmond connection (he lived here, I’m told, not far from my alma mater while writing Even Cowgirls Get the Blues), the setting, or the common thread (SPOILER ALERT! SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE!!) the lowly, subterranean beet. Yes, Jitterbug Perfume is made from beet pollen, the way Soylent Green is made of people. In any case, if you’re looking for some late-summer reading, Jitterbug Perfume is fine territorry indeed.
