The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Use it Up in the New Year!

by Amy on January 8th, 2008

We had a big push last year to really declutter the shower and linen closet by using up and swapping away the oodles of extra shower gels, soap, lotion, and much more that seem to collect when you’re a product junkie like me.   But, thanks in part to the new year’s resolution I made, I prepared THREE boxes of stuff chock full of lovely products to find a good home with some women in need of pampering.

Getting some breathing room, I was able to really make some progress in the last month or so.  Due to a fair bit of house renovations, my nails and hands are in pitiful shape (as are those of my significant other).   And at work, I’m trying REALLYSUPERHARD not to catch any colds or other nasty bugs so I’m washing my hands a lot.  This means - TWO whole lotions finished, and one more about gone.   The ones we finished were both e-tailer lotions from MadCitySue and Suds and Light.   I think I’m maybe 75% finished with the Watkins Shea Butter creme as well.  Now I’m digging into the OPI Avojuice in Cran and Berry Juicie, which is a bit light for serious issues but is good for after the hand-washing, so I keep it by my desk at work.  R. is working on the Korres Bitter Almond.

I also convinced the mate to help me with my shampoos.  He used to be an Aussie Mega guy, but for some reason,  we couldnt find it in stores around here.   It turns out Clairol bought the line and stopped manufacturing the Mega shampoo.  So now we’re working on a Bath and Body Works pineapple shampoo.  It’s actually similar to the Mega even though it’s clear instead of white.  I love the pineapple scent and if it weren’t winter I’d use the pineapple conditioner but it’s too light!

Anyway, that’s the big news.  I really hate toting fullsize products to the gym especially when they’re mostly full.  I might have to invest in a set of travel bottles or re-use a smaller bottle when I get one finished.  The best thing about showering at the gym is that I really get a chance to use up a lot of samples, since they’re so easy to throw in my gym bag and pull out in the shower!

Are you trying to pare down now that the holidays are over?
